Oxford Executive MBA 授業- module8 その1

今回のmoduleは、Ethics and Governance, Accounting Part2, Finance Part1の3つでした。まずは、Alan D. Morrison のEthics and Governanceから。教科書などは特になく、ミルトン・フリードマンの以下の記事の考え方を中心に説明がされました。Friedman, M. (1970) “The social responsibility of business is to increase its profits.” New York Times Magazine, 13 September.


また、講義だけでなく、プレゼンテーションのスライド7枚と説明資料2枚の作成、及び10分以内でのプレゼンテーション(Q&A session含む)も課題として出されました。期限が3日しかないため、元々毎日朝から晩まで授業が入っているなか、必然的に授業の後の夜に取り組むことに。テーマしては、以下の考え方から幾つかをピックアップして作成、というのが課題です。

  1. Meta-contracts: defining organizations and corporate governance;
  2. Contract and status relationships, and the rationale for honoring them;
  3. Shareholder primacy;
  4. Stakeholder theories;
  5. Corporate moral obligations
  6. Corporate responsibility

私たちのチームは、私が今回の授業のためにFASTER, HIGEER, FARTHER: The Volkswagen Scandalという本を事前に読んでおり、ある程度会社及び概要の基礎知識があるということで、VWにとあっさり決まりました。他の候補としては、Facebook, Uberなどもあったのですが、授業で触れたモデルを使用しにくいということと、解決策を提案しにくいということで却下に。また、同時に私に基礎知識あるので、当然プレゼンはよろしく、ということになり、あっさりVWに決まった理由は、このためかと分かった瞬間でしたがもはや後の祭りでした。
